The Lamplighter Dining Rooms is run by The Tasker Family – Sue, Alistair and James. Sue and Tony started The Lamplighter over 35 years ago and over that time have built an enviable reputation for customer service and the quality of the produce that we serve. Ten years ago Alistair and James took over the reigns.
James, having been raised in The Lamplighter from the age of 7, developed a real passion for food and beverage and the hospitality industry from an early age. And, as soon as he was able, James moved to London to specialise in operations and event management, first, starting at The Savoy and then moving on to One Whitehall Place, The Dorchester and finally Claridge’s. However, it was always his intention to return to the wonderful Lake District and taking the position of hotel Manager at The Old England where his father had taken over his first head-chefs position 35 years earlier.
